The Pine Marten
In 2021 I was captivated with a medium sized mustolid.
The Pine Marten captured my attention after reading about them in a wildlife magazine. These elusive mammals are now being re introduced to different parts of the UK and they are now building there populations back to what they once were.
I first captured my first sightings on a series of trailcams whilst on assignment in Scotland. From this point they have set me a challenge of capturing a wild Marten in its own environments.
To gain a better understanding of their behaviors I visited a Pine Marten hide in Scotland during 2021 to watch, observe and learn about there mannerisms and movements. This has provided me with an insight to how they behave and more
2022 will be a challenge to capture a set of Pine Marten images within their natural environment.
The Golden Eagle
The Golden Eagle made my list whilst I was on the Isle of Mull capture images of Otters. As I was sat in the damp kelp watching and waiting intently for a special glimpse of an Otter, a Golden Eagle passed by, just overhead on the roadside. It wasnt close but with my binos I got a great view.
Speaking to a local photographer (Jimmy) he said an Image of a Golden Eagle was the golden goose and it could take years to capture the image I described to him that I wanted. The challenge was then set.
Although I could easily get a White Tailed Eagle the larger of the eagles in the British Isles, my admiration has always been with the the Golden Eagles after seeing one at a young age alongside a Wren at an exhibition within a museum.
You will notice there is no image!! Fingers crossed this will change in 2022 - Misson Accomplished for 2022.
